My husband and I hired attorney Robert Sweetapple, and Douglas Crane Broeker of Sweetapple Broeker & Varkas to handle a post-trial civil case for us arising out of a failed business transaction. Dates: November 18, 2021 to January 31, 2024. Robert Sweetapple and Douglas Crane Broeker failed to comply with court ordered deadlines. They missed all key dates for hearings, meetings and pleadings. They either ignored the motions altogether or filed our responses extremely late that could have advanced our cause and only when they were ordered and threatened by the Court to reply. Sweetapple Broeker & Varkas legal invoices were excessive and over the top. We were quoted by Robert Sweetapple approximately $40,000 for our case however his firm billed us over $250,000 in bogus legal fees within 9 months. We lost the case and ended up with a $2.5 Million Dollar judgment when Sweetapple made us believe we would win. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SWEETAPPLE BROEKER & VARKAS. THEY’RE CROOKS.

Broeker and Sweetapple were hired by my husband and me to specifically handle the post-trial procedures on a case brought against us by a con artist named Ravi Kadiyala from Illinois who had stolen $1.1 Million Dollars from my husband’s bank account SWEETAPPLE SABOTAGED AND INTENTIONALLY NEGLECTED our case to a loss. We lost the chance for a retrial and appeal and we ended up with a $2.5 M Judgment. STAY AWAY FROM THIS FIRM. THEY ARE CROOKS.

Broeker and Sweetapple failed to competently proceed with the prosecution of our case. We lost the chance for a retrial and appeal and we ended up with a $2.5 Million Judgment. In November 2021, Sweetapple was retained by my husband and me to specifically handle some post-trial procedures on a case brought against us by a con artist who had stolen $1.1 Million Dollars from us after breaching a contract to purchase my husband’s business mortgage banking licenses. Sweetapple was hired specifically by us to undertake the post-trial activities on our case including but not limited to file a 50(B) Motion, request a new trial and file an appeal if necessary. Sweetapple did not perform the services which he was hired to do and paid approximately $110,000 in legal fees by us. Sweetapple failed to competently proceed with the prosecution of our case. We lost the chance for a retrial and appeal due to Robert Sweetapple’s failure to preserve our case for appeal and ended up with a $2.5 Million Dollars Judgment. Sweetapple is untrustworthy.

This is a ZERO STAR review by me for this attorney based on my personal experience with him. I am still in shock how he mishandled our case which we entrusted in his care. He betrayed our trust. In 2021, he was hired as our attorney to handle the post-trial activities on a civil lawsuit brought against me and my husband by a lunatic thief and con artist. He failed to timely proceed with the prosecution of our case after being retained and paid a large sum by us. During the time of his engagement he did almost nothing in furtherance of our interests, we lost the chance for a retrial and appeal due to his failure to file the appropriate post-trial motions to preserve our case for appeal thereby leaving us without a remedy for relief. He neglected our case and missed all crucial deadlines on the case. He owed us a duty of care arising from the attorney-client relationship, he failed that duty and we ended up with a multi-million dollar judgment. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HIS SERVICES.
