Leave a review about your experience with this firm.As a retired attorney with 32 years of experience, I don’t write multiple reviews but LS Carlson Law earned it. I found myself in a nightmare with an outrageous HOA and after interviewing three other firms, LS Carlson stood out immediately. Their team was sharp, honest, and strategic from day one; no gimmicks, just real legal insight. When I retained them, they didn’t miss a beat. They were responsive, aggressive when needed, and clearly experts in HOA law. Their founder literally wrote a book, BAD HOA and the other side knew they were up against the best. I never expected the resolution they achieved, especially with how unreasonable my HOA was. Their podcast was also a huge help throughout. Thanks to LS Carlson, this Southern transplant can finally relax and enjoy California. If you're battling an HOA, stop searching. These are the real deal.
Chris is a fine person, but my case was on his back burner the whole time. Communication from his was lax. I found myself making corrections to a majority of the documents prepared by him/his staff throughout my case. When the case went to arbitration, the judge/arbitrator made it clear what I was missing to win the case. Why Chris did not point this out to me baffled me, but at the sane time fit the balance of his style. Ninety percent of the dialogue with the judge during arbitration came from me, with Chris making occasional side comments. I cannot recommend him.
LS Carlson Law’s website on HOAs is impressive, but it’s all smoke and mirrors. Chris Xouleis was assigned to my case after a fee-paying consultation with him. My dispute with the HOA had lasted two years without a resolution; from the outset I warned him that my HOA was a hard nut to crack. He proposed mediation in line with the firm’s playbook. A few weeks and substantial legal fees later the billing showed that Mr. Xouleis made three attempts to contact the opposing HOA counsel. On the last attempt he held a conference call with his counterpart, then SILENCE. Sadly, he did not report the full details of that call to me. Next he entrusted my case to a newcomer. She was inexperienced and didn’t fully grasp the facts. Besides, the tasks she performed could have been carried out by a paralegal for half her hourly fee! I demanded a full refund of legal fees: NO REPLY. Retainer agreements immunize lawyers from accountability and preclude compensation to clients for a lawyer's failure.
