Hugh recently moved to a firm I've used for a few years to handle landlord-tenant matters. With 40 rental properties I am familiar with this type of law. I had a good relationship with one attorney, but one day Hugh chose to handle my cases. He failed to provide adequate follow up, did not file cases in a timely fashion & proof of service on 2 suits was lost, making it difficult to take a suit to court. I lost quite a bit of time dealing with the incompetence, it cost me money and needlessly required my personal involvement. Due to filing delays, one of my suits was thrown out. When told it was his delays in signing/forwarding the complaint, he blew up, withdrew from a separate, unrelated case, which required me to retain other council in order to complete matters that were near resolution. This caused further delays & added to my costs. He billed me nearly twice the rate of the practice's previous attorney without disclosing his rates or obtaining a retainer agreement. Shady!
