Robert M. “Robby” Ronnlund is a Partner in our Birmingham, Alabama, office, where he focuses on the defense of high-exposure personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, and medical malpractice matters.
Prior to joining HBS, Robby was a partner in a small litigation boutique, where he had a broad civil trial practice. He tried cases in virtually all areas of the law, including products liability, medical malpractice, transportation, employment, premises liability, and probate matters. In the field of products liability, Robby has served as lead counsel in cases involving aircraft and aircraft components, vehicle and vehicle safety systems, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment, consumer products, and firearms. In the area of medical malpractice, he has gained particular expertise in psychiatric and mental health malpractice, as well as the defense of surgical, anesthesia, and ophthalmology cases.
Robby has also consulted on a number of high-profile criminal matters on issues involving firearms, forensics, and pharmacology, and he has handled criminal and administrative actions adjacent to his professional and products liability practice, including regularly appearing in front of administrative bodies in licensure actions and assisting clients with regulatory compliance matters and investigations.
Robby earned his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, and his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama, where he was elected into Phi Beta Kappa. He is a licensed private pilot who owns and maintains his own experimental airplane. He and his wife, Millie, live in Vestavia with their two children.
