i grew up in Birmingham and have degrees in Economics, History, and Law. History was my first love. I have lived in six states and spent at least a summer in five others. I graduated from law school while I was in my 30s and practiced for one year at a big firm in Atlanta and nine years at a small firm in Covington, Georgia (where My Cousin Vinny was filmed as well as In the Heat of the Night, The Dukes of Hazard, and The Vampire Diaries). We moved back to Birmingham when my mother died and to Cullman after my father died. I am guardian for a disabled brother, father to an adult daughter, and husband to Theresa for 30+ years. I love baseball, college football, hiking, mountains, beaches, and dogs. In our household, dark chocolate is considered a priceless commodity.
My vocation today is to take care of my clients' property and estates- from estate planning to real estate investments. Estate planning is "preventive medicine" against family feuds. Estate administration is something that must be done when someone dies, and you want someone who can keep a bad situation from getting worse. Real estate is where many of us put much of our wealth, and the hazards of buying, selling, and managing real estate are challenging. Dealing with death and the threat of death has made me a better lawyer and human being.
I have offices in Birmingham and Madison. I sometimes meet people in homes and hospitals who suffer from ill health.
