Lawrence H. Jacobson has more than four decades of experience in the practice of law and has extensive experience as an expert witness in a wide variety of matters, including real estate law, broker malpractice and legal malpractice. He is the former Vice President Legal Affairs of the California Association of Realtors (CAR) and is a former president of the Association of Real Estate Attorneys. Mr. Jacobson was elected President of the Beverly Hills Bar Association 2011-2012.
Mr. Jacobson earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) in 1967. He has written and lectured extensively on business and real estate matters, and has taught at the University of Southern California (USC) Broker Development Program, the Graduate Realtors Institute of the California Association of Realtors, the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) and the San Fernando Valley College of Law. Mr. Jacobson is a contributing author of the award-winning CEB two-volume treatise, California Real Estate Brokers Law and Litigation and was awarded CEB's 2011 'Spirit of CEB' award in recognition of his contribution to the California Continuing Education of the Bar.
Lawrence Jacobson is a member of several local and national bar associations, including the American Bar Association (Business and Real Estate Section), the State Bar of California and the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations. He has served as Judge Pro Tem in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills municipal courts. Mr. Jacobson has also served as an arbitrator in the California Superior Court.
Mr. Jacobson is an expert witness in court trials and arbitration cases involving disputes over interpretation of real estate documents, real estate and mortgage brokers' standard of care, and legal malpractice involving real estate, corporate finance, merger and acquisition, and real estate transaction issues. He also serves as a pre-litigation consultant, assisting counsel in better understanding and evaluating critical factors in a case and helping to structure trial strategy.
