I was dealing with a problematic situation at work that our employer put me in. I was basically being told this is how we're going to do things from now on. It didn't feel right and it was resulting in making a working condition worse. On a hunch, I reached out to the Cowan Law Firm and wound up speaking to Jeffrey Cowan. Not only was he able to advise me in how to proceed in a talk with my employer, he also gave me the information on a California law that strengthened my position. The meeting I had with my employer was respectful and productive which resulted in completely resolving my workplace problem. I am absolutely certain, none of this would have been possible without his help and guidance...but I also I felt confident that I was in good hands if I wound up needing to be represented by Jeffrey Cowan. I highly recommend The Cowan Law Firm.

A friend of mine reached out for legal advice regarding employment loss and, while I am an attorney, I do not practice employment law. I referred my friend to a trusted employment lawyer, Jeffrey Cowan. Jeffrey took an objective and level approach to the situation and helped generate a perspective which could be used to counter the severance offer my friend initially received. In the end, Jeffrey's advice tempered the standard reflex to employment loss and laid the framework for appealing to the employer rather than reacting. As a result, the former employer increased the severance offer. I plan to continue referring anyone in need of employment law advice to Jeffrey, knowing that his deep knowledge of the legal space and strategic support for his clients is top tier and and will yield the best possible result.

It is refreshing to work with someone who makes you feel at ease while also providing you the leadership, answers and framework of knowledge to make the right decisions. Jeffrey has a unique approach to his work; he actually talks to you and not at you. Wise counsel is the best way to put it. More importantly, Jeffrey works in partnership with you – giving me equal say and making it an important part of the decision making.” Jeffrey is very commanding, when you are in an adversarial situation, he brings a very intimidating presence that gives me great comfort and confidence. He had excellent communication- he responded to emails and phone calls promptly. He explained everything in an easy to understand manner and was very thorough with reviewing documents and records - making it a point to be knowledgeable about my condition. Above all, being a realist, I appreciated his honesty. I couldn't have made it through the lawsuit without him. I would definitely recommend Jeffrey.

After searching and having initial consultations with a number of lawyers to find one to review a severance offer and circumstances surrounding my layoff by a former employer I came across The Cowan Law Firm. From the initial contact to all the communication we had after deciding to retain them for my legal needs they have always been responsive, informative, and professional.
