Ms. Strent practices family law in the courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia and has done so for her entire career. Her experience includes litigation and negotiation in the areas of child custody and support, complex property disputes, alimony, retirement and all other issues arising out of marriage dissolution. Ms. Strent also represents individuals planning to marry and children who are the subject of custody litigation. Her practice includes post-trial work regarding retirement benefits and appellate litigation. She is also trained in collaborative law and mediation, having successfully mediated cases and helps her own clients mediate their matters.
Ms. Strent belongs to the Maryland State Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association. She volunteers at the Montgomery County Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar Association. She volunteers in the Washington, D.C. Self-Help Center, programs created to assist litigants without lawyers, and co-edited the Commission for Women’s handbook entitled "A Women's Guide to Surviving the Legal Process of Separation and Divorce in Maryland".
Ms. Strent chairs the Montgomery County law Firm Management section, an active committee whose members devote their time to improving the business of law and promoting the high standards of the legal community in Montgomery County.
She was recognized as one of the top family law attorneys in Maryland’s Super Lawyers Magazine in 2009 and 2011-2013, and a Best Lawyer in 2013. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Strent served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. John M. Campbell of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.
Ms. Strent earned her J.D. cum laude from George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. in 1997 and prior to that, she received her B.A. in international relations from American University. She spends her time outside the office with her husband, Craig, and sons, Sammy and Oliver, in Bethesda, chairs a book group run by the Hadassah-Brandeis Institute and enjoys travel.
Ms. Strent takes a personal approach with each client and tailors her presentation to the clients’ individual needs. She focuses on putting her clients in an optimal position so that they can best accomplish their goals, helping them both emotionally and legally.
