He has been recognized by the State Bar of California's for his commitment to its specialization programs and in 1999 received the Bar's annual C. Rick Chamberlain Award. Early in his career, Michael was Board Chairman and General Council for the Rockridge Health Care Plan - an Oakland, CA based HMO serving predominantly Medical population.

    He have written an extensive chapter on Living Trusts, published as part of West's comprehensive text on California Trust Law (1999); an essay entitled "What are Ethics? And Why should we worry about them anyway?"; have assembled (and edited) extensive materials for various CEB classes on Ethical and Malpractice Considerations in Estate Planning and other T&E related topics; have written and taught extensively on Drafting Wills & Trusts; have published an article entitled "Proving Death Without A Body" in the August, 1991, CEB Estate Planning Newsletter; have (with Warren Sinsheimer) authored an irregular "Back to the Basics" column for the State Bar's Estate Planning Trust & Probate Law Section newsletter; and have (as a law student) written a pedantic foray into the backwaters of procedural law for the California Law Review--which foray is best forgotten.
