Hired Attorney

Worst attorney ever. Hired based on a friends advice for her adoption case and these reviews. My friend gave him 3000 as a down payment for a custody case. She never heard from him again until she asked to meet him a few days before her hearing. She had to ASK HIM--he never tried to meet her. She told him stuff that she had on her ex.....he said the hearing was only 30 minutes and they did not need it. At the hearing, it was unbelievable. You would be in awe how unprepared Stephen Shoptaw was. The hearing in Saline county is 3 hours long-not 30 minutes. He was not prepared and did nothing but show up. He got no financial records. He told her to not bring anything with her. She lost custody of her children-not even get joint custody. They asked for their money back and Shoptaw's secretary threatened to call the police, made them leave, and then locked the door behind him. Then, he sent an email accusing her of mental illness. I have never seen anyone so eager to get 3000 to do nothing
