From Punjab, India, to Tacoma, Washington
Preet's early years in Punjab, India, laid the foundation for her unwavering work ethic. At the age of 8, she and her family embarked on a journey that took them from a comfortable life in India to Tacoma, Washington. Witnessing her parents' relentless dedication to providing for her and her brother in a new land fueled Preet's determination to make them proud and honor their sacrifices.
Throughout her high school and college years, Preet balanced a rigorous academic life with part-time employment, gaining invaluable work experience at various establishments, including McDonald's, Sears, Kenneth Cole, and the Old Spaghetti Factory. In her spare time, she generously contributed to her community by volunteering at her local temple, a Salvation Army soup kitchen, and St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way.
Preet pursued her undergraduate education at UW Seattle, focusing on Biology and Spanish.
Discovering Her Passion for the Law
After college, Preet's initial plan was to pursue a master's degree in Public Health with aspirations of attending medical school. However, her path took an unexpected turn when she secured a position at a personal injury law firm in Philadelphia as a legal assistant. It was here, after assisting in three cases, that she discovered her fervor for personal injury law. The intersection of law and medicine in personal injury law resonated deeply with her, making it a dream come true.
Under the mentorship of her then boss, Attorney Richard Washington, Preet not only learned the intricacies of effective and considerate legal practice but also gained insights into running a law firm that genuinely caters to clients' needs. With Richard's guidance, Preet mastered the art of delivering exceptional results while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Realizing that personal injury law was her true calling, Preet pursued the JD/MPH program at Widener University School of Law and Thomas Jefferson University. Throughout law school, she remained unwavering in her focus on personal injury and health law, diligently honing her trial and argumentation skills. Preet actively engaged in mock trial programs, dedicated Fridays to arguing protection from abuse orders in family law court, and undertook research internships, all while interning at the Philadelphia Public Defender's Association.
Following the successful completion of her JD and MPH thesis, Preet returned to Tacoma, where she successfully passed the Washington State Bar Exam in 2012.
The Sky's The Limit!
With her bar admission, Preet commenced her legal career at a reputable mid-size personal injury firm in Tacoma. Driven by her passion for helping individuals, she delved into every facet of personal injury cases, from client engagement to negotiating settlements and litigating complex cases in open court. Her experience includes handling challenging cases involving catastrophic injuries and multi-plaintiff death cases.
Outside of her legal work, Preet continued to dedicate her time and skills to worthy causes. She volunteered at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, working on asylum cases, and contributed to the free legal clinic run by the Multicultural Self-Sufficiency Movement.
Preet's drive extended to her personal life, where she pursued athletic achievements through Crossfit and completed several half marathons and a full marathon. Preet's remarkable dedication ensures that any task she undertakes is accomplished with precision and determination.
