Scott has been involved in large commercial litigation matters arising from real estate and other business transactions, including representation of creditors in bankruptcy proceedings and foreclosures. Scott graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.B.A. in Finance in 1973 and from The University of Texas School of Law with honors in 1977, where he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi honorary legal society and the Legal Research Board. He began his practice with the law firm of Crutchfield, DeCordova, Brocato & Heartfield, P.C. in Beaumont, Texas in 1977, extensive experience in real estate and business matters where he became a shareholder before leaving to become a partner with Benckenstein, Oxford, Radford & Johnson in Beaumont in 1986. He has been certified in Commercial Real Estate Law and Residential Real Estate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1984. In 1992, Scott and several other lawyers formed the firm of Bernsen, Jamail & Goodson, L.L.P., whose successor joined with Germer in March, 2000, of which Scott is now a principal. Scott is a principal of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law, Business Law, Tax Law, and Health Law sections of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice in all courts in the State of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
