Hired Attorney Derek R. Van Gilder

One of the worst parts of a new city is finding competent folks to work with. Derek isn't one. He's a scammer and a liar. I have business overseas so I travel. I hired Derek to argue a Contempt Motion in a case I'd already won. It needing a hearing date set right away so I could know when to travel. He couldn't take two minutes and get that done in nearly two months. He also subcontracted my case out to SOME PARALEGAL WHO WASN'T EVEN A LAWYER. He lied over and over again about getting a hearing date set, I finally called the Court only to discover that this piece of trash hadn't even appeared as counsel yet. It took me less than five minutes to set a hearing date myself. I fired him of course, then this piece of trash stole more than $3000 of my retainer, claiming that he'd done all this work for me. Now I'm suing his butt, which just adds more work to my life. This piece of trash is the living version of every crooked lawyer joke you've ever hears. Stay away from him!
