Debra J. Sutton, founder of the Sutton Law Firm, has been practicing family and appellate law since 1989. She is deeply committed to her clients, offering dedicated legal counsel in matters such as divorce and child custody. With offices in Bartow, Lakeland, and St. Petersburg, Ms. Sutton and her team provide compassionate representation, guiding clients through emotionally challenging legal situations.
Raised in a military family, Ms. Sutton’s upbringing took her across the U.S. and abroad before settling in Auburndale, FL. Her early experiences fostered resilience and leadership, which continued through her involvement in Girl Scouts and as drum major of her high school band. Her interest in law began at a young age, inspired by legal dramas like Perry Mason.
Debra’s passion for helping others was evident in her early career as a paralegal, where she supported women and children in abuse shelters. This desire to make a difference ultimately drove her to become an attorney.
In addition to her legal work, Ms. Sutton is the founder of "Care to Dance," a nonprofit providing ballroom dance lessons to seniors with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Her dedication to both her profession and her community reflects her genuine care for people.
