If I file for bankruptcy would I still be able to adopt?

Answered by attorney Dorothy G. Bunce (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at A Fresh Start
Although bankruptcy law does contain non-discrimination provisions, to adopt you need to show that you are currently financially secure enough to support a child. By itself, bankruptcy won?t prevent you from adoption, but the fact that you are in serious debt could raise questions about your financial responsibility. In other words, it depends on what things are like when you try to adopt.

Yes, After a few years, your credit will rise and the FHA lenders may finance you on a house. It does depend on your entire situation, too.
