How do I get a bankruptcy off of my credit report?

Answered by attorney Gregory J Wald (Unclaimed Profile)

There is no sure way to remove accurate information from a credit report before it has expired. However, I am told by mortgage brokers that it is generally possible to obtain a mortgage two years after your bankruptcy is completed, and sometimes as little as one year after it is completed. I wish you the best.

Will creditors come after my bank account if I am on SSI?

Answered by attorney Susan Green Taylor (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Law Office of Susan G. Taylor
It is never a good idea to bank where you have any other credit obligation. And, warning, creditors lie to obtain payment from you. I do not believe the bank can offset your account if all funds are traceable to child support/Social Security benefits, but why take the chance? Change banks.

Can I file for bankruptcy again?

Answered by attorney Philip Rory Boardman (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Haven Law Group, P.C.
Yes you can. You just have to make sure that enough years have passed. If you are filing two chapter 7's back to back, you will need to wait 8 years. A 13 following a 7 is 6 years.
