How does one stop wage garnishment?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Dorothy G. Bunce (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at A Fresh Start
There is no such thing as a best way to stop a wage garnishment. There are a number of choices and each comes with its own price tag. How much is the court judgment that led to the wage garnishment? What type of debt is the judgment for? Without more details, you might as well ask if it is better to order chicken or fish.

How do I get a car back from a business owner in jail?

Answered by attorney Andrew Tyler Velonis (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Andrew T. Velonis, P.C.
The answer is a little more complicated than it should be It's called an action in replevin. He has to file papers with the court and get a court order allowing him to go on to this person's property and take posession of his vehicle.

What can be done if my ex-boyfriend bought furniture with my credit and is not making the payments?

Bankruptcy lawyer at Andrew T. Velonis, P.C.
You will be held responsible for paying this money. As far as the finance company is concerned, they loaned the money to you and any deal you made with anyone else is your problem. I know that sounds harsh, but that's the way they look at it. You can sue the ex-BF, but then you have to collect. Tell the finance company to go ahead and repo the furniture. They will, and then will sell it for cheap and sue you for the difference. When they do, bring a third-party action against the ex-BF.
