My daughter co signed on a house how will bankruptcy affect hr

Marion Eugene Ellington
Answered by attorney Marion Eugene Ellington (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Marion E. Ellington, Jr., Attorney at Law, P.C.
Co signers on notes are equally responsible for the debt.  If the other co signer does not pay, then the creditor will look to your daughter to make the payments.  The debt will be discharged in bankruptcy for the person filing, but not the other party, unless they too file for bankruptcy.

Your attorney should discuss conversion of the case to a Chapter 7, or Motion to withdraw the filing altogether. There are too many facts unknown to give any advice.

If I owe money on an apartment I was evicted from, lease is under my name and someone else's, will this be covered when I file?

Bankruptcy lawyer at Hayward, Parker O'Leary
Balances due to former landlords are dischargeable in bankruptcy. You should also list as a creditor the other person on the lease.
