If so, it is unenforceable unless the lender is a bank, credit union, or licensed lender. There are also substantial statutory damages for unauthorized loans. 3. Many calls of this nature are scammers. You should not respond or agree to pay or provide any information without a written notice describing the debt and giving your rights to dispute it.
