At one point this firm handled criminal law for which they represented me in a Class C speeding ticket. Little did I know who I originally retained, an LLC venture called Texas Ticket Busters was operating under their name yet upon my investigation was owned by their paralegal. Turns out the paralegal did nearly all the legal proceedings including a conference call with the judge and prosecutor on my behalf with Ms. Eggleston only appearing for me in court and this was after a bench warrant was issued on my behalf for an FTA (failure to appear) because their was an error in sending the summons to appear. Paralegal said the clerk was swearing up and down that the court sent something to them. Regardless, I had to appear along with Ms. Eggleston for a new court date. This completely defeats the purpose of representation at the Class C level; any straightforward attorney you speak to DIRECTLY and hire as such will tell you that the benefit in this level of a case is that you don't have to
I had a very bad experience with attorney Janice Eggleston. I retained her in the past November to represent me in a modification case. Her hourly rate was $350/hour, but she would assign three people to work on your case and collectively her billing can be extremely high. When I tried to understand her billing, she would not explain why my bill was so high. She uses the words “pleading”, “documents”, “notes” in her billing entries and her bill would never tell you how much she charged you for each “pleading”, “document” or “note”. If you are fallen behind on your payment, she would file her motion to withdraw from your case right away.
