Louis is a founding partner of Cooper Levenson and has been practicing law since 1969. Over the course of his long and distinguished career, he has focused his practice on insurance defense litigation representing insurance carriers, their insureds and self-insureds; insurance coverage litigation; commercial and residential construction defect litigation; and condominium litigation. He has specialized his practice in the defense of automobile dealerships for their insurance companies and their self-insured interests, throughout the State of New Jersey.
Louis has handled complex litigated matters across multiple lines of specialty and has earned a reputation for strategic client guidance thorough tireless preparation and effective advocacy. His extensive experience enables him to navigate challenging claims, manage risk, and achieve favorable outcomes for his clients. He has tried jury cases for 55 years and has excelled in a majority of defense verdicts.
Credentials
Louis is certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney, a distinction that is achieved by less than 2% of all lawyers licensed in New Jersey. This certification and the re-certifications every five years require the completion of extensive applications with endorsements from fellow trial practitioners and trial judges.
His extensive trial work has earned him acceptance into the prestigious professional organization of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Lawyers can only be admitted into this select group by invitation and must meet rigorous requirements including not only their extensive trial experience and abilities, but also their civility and professionalism.

Louis has handled over 2000 cases in his career involving wrongful death actions, product liability, construction defect, fall down accidents, motor vehicle accidents, insurance coverage litigation, professional malpractice litigation, condominium litigation, premises security litigation and dram shop litigation. He has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in the above practice areas. This gives him an independent and objective view of the facts and law in these areas. His mediation experience includes representing plaintiffs and defendants in over 100 mediations, both state and federal, throughout the State of New Jersey.
Community
Louis has devoted endless hours to the needs of local community and civic organizations and charities, and currently serves as General Counsel and Board member of the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey.
