Concentrates in commercial and real estate transactions; estate planning and business succession; estate and trust administration, including related litigation; and probate law. Alex graduated from Stockton University (Accounting with Honors, 1998) and Rutgers School of Law, Camden (J.D., 2002 – top 5% of Class). Alex also received his Master of Laws in Taxation from Temple School of Law. In law school, he was an editor of the Rutgers Law Journal. After law school he clerked in Atlantic County for Judge Himmelberger, Jr., J.S.C. (Law Division) (Ret.). Alex is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association; Atlantic County Bar Association; New Jersey Association for Justice; and American Association for Justice. Alex has been actively involved with the Atlantic County Bar Association, and served as a Trustee and Officer for several years and is the President for the 2017-18 term. He is a past member of the District I Ethics Committee and was Chairperson of the New Lawyers Division of the Atlantic County Bar Association. In 2012, Alex received the Benjamin A. Rimm Award as Atlantic County’s young lawyer of the year in recognition of his professionalism, charitable and community involvement. Alex was born and raised in Atlantic County, attending schools in Northfield and Linwood, including Mainland Regional High School, and worked as a casino games dealer in Atlantic City to support his college education while graduating college in less than three years. Alex is the proud son of an immigrant father who came to this country as a young man from Ecuador with nothing. He resides in Linwood with his wife, Alexa D'Amato Barrera, and their three boys.
