Thomas D. Church chose to become a trial lawyer to advocate for individuals rather than large corporations or powerful agencies. Since earning his law degree, he has successfully handled cases in criminal law, personal injury, and civil rights across Georgia and beyond. In 2020, Tom was honored as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Criminal Defense Trial Lawyers in Georgia by the National Trial Lawyers, a distinction given to the top 40 attorneys in the state based on their qualifications and achievements. In 2021, Best Lawyers recognized him as “One to Watch” in his third year of practice, and he was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Tom manages a range of criminal cases, including federal and state felony charges, and he has achieved favorable outcomes in appeals and post-conviction proceedings. He has also successfully filed motions for compassionate release across several states. Since 2020, Tom has also represented various stakeholders in the hemp industry, securing injunctions and other relief for small businesses and individuals who have been unlawfully targeted by government officials. Tom graduated with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law, where he excelled academically and participated in moot court and mock trial teams. He began his career with Page Pate and became a partner at Pate, Johnson & Church before founding The Church Law Firm in 2022.
