Matthew W. Levin has practiced law since 1991. Mr. Levin started his career at Alston & Bird in Atlanta, and then moved to Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton, prior to joining Scroggins & Williamson in 2015. Mr. Levin received a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1988, majoring in economics and philosophy, and he received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and served on the University of Virginia Law Review. He is admitted to the bar in Georgia. Mr. Levin specializes in business workouts and reorganizations, both in and out of bankruptcy court, and litigation of issues concerning creditor and debtor rights. He has represented various companies, in industries such as pharmaceuticals, aerospace, mortgage finance, manufacturing, textiles and healthcare, as debtors in Chapter 11 cases in courts from Delaware to Georgia, and in such capacity, counseled clients on various legal issues in areas such as M&A, employment, labor, tax, environmental, and ERISA, and worked closely with clients on business issues in connection therewith. Has has also represented rating agencies, lenders and borrowers in numerous securitization deals, in the context of true sale and nonconsolidation opinions, represented trustees, official committees, creditors and secured lenders in various Chapter 11 cases, and represented defendants in various complex commercial litigation matters.

Mr. Levin has been listed as a leading Georgia bankruptcy practitioner in Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business since 2004, and in The Best Lawyers in America for Bankruptcy since 2013. He has also been recognized as a Georgia Superlawyer in Bankruptcy & Workouts by Atlanta Magazine since 2007.
