Louis R. Cohan has been a trial lawyer for more than 25 years. He has earned Martindale Hubbell’s highest rating, AV Preeminent, based on evaluations of attorneys and Judges. Mr. Cohan is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, based on his extensive jury trial experience. Louis is also a member of Mensa, a Super Lawyer and a Georgia Trend Legal Elite.
Louis founded Cohan Law Group, L.L.C. in 2011 following 18 years with Weinstock & Scavo, P.C. Cohan’s experience includes litigation of more than $200 million dollars in claims in both state and federal courts in Georgia and around the U.S., arbitrations, more than 50 trials, and at least 100 mediations. Cohan has argued appellate cases before the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Georgia Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Cohan has lectured extensively, including a national webinar on the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
Mr. Cohan has litigated multiple business litigation cases involving more than $1 million in dispute and one case with nearly $80 million in dispute. Mr. Cohan has secured a jury verdict for nearly $3 million, and has secured a number of defense verdicts involving more than $1 million.
Louis earned his undergraduate degree in finance from the Terry College of business at the University of Georgia in 1985 and his Juris Doctorate degree from Emory School of Law in 1991.
Louis serves on the Boards of the Atlanta Bar Association Litigation Section, the Labor and Employment Section, the Atlanta Bar Foundation, and the Anti-Defamation League.
