About Mr. Kyle Brooks

Buckley Bala Wilson Mew, the preeminent civil rights and employment litigation firm headquartered in Atlanta, has hired Kyle Brooks, a former Assistant Attorney General with the Georgia Law Department, as the newest attorney in the employment litigation section.

Mr. Brooks will work closely with Ed Buckley, Managing Partner, on employment and civil rights litigation such as race discrimination, sex discrimination, age discrimination, wage-and-hour, and harassment cases.

“Buckley Bala Wilson Mew has an excellent reputation for defending employees wronged by their employers and defending civil rights,” said Mr. Brooks. “Based upon my work throughout my career in civil rights litigation, I’m excited to join the team at Buckley Bala Wilson Mew where I can expand that practice.”

During his time with the Georgia Law Department, Mr. Brooks specialized in civil rights and constitutional law. The cases he handled involved First, Fourth, Fifth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment issues, as well as issues pertaining to sovereign and qualified immunity. He also handled complex cases, such as wrongful death litigation and litigation with agency-wide policy implications, as well as litigation involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Rehabilitation Act, Title IX, and the Georgia Tort Claims Act.

He began his legal career at the Bullman Law Group, in Atlanta, before joining the Georgia Law Department. In private practice, he worked on civil rights litigation involving Fourth Amendment claims against county and municipal governments and their employees, as well as commercial litigation, including claims asserted under the Fair Business Practices Act, the Uniform Deceptive Trade Practices Act, ERISA, and breach of contract cases, among many others.

Mr. Brooks earned his law degree from Georgia State University College of Law. He earned his undergraduate degree from Mercer University.

When not practicing law, Mr. Brooks enjoys spending time with his wife and young children, travel, and trying new restaurants. He also serves as a member of the editorial board for the Georgia Bar Journal.
