James S. Holmes is an associate in Hall Booth Smith’s Atlanta office, where he focuses his practice on the defense of medical malpractice, correctional health care, and dental liability matters. He represents healthcare providers, facilities, and insurers in complex professional liability cases from pre-suit investigation through trial.James brings a unique dual-degree background to his practice, holding both a Juris Doctor and a Doctor of Pharmacy. His formal training in pharmacy provides him with a strong command of medical terminology, pharmacology, and clinical decision-making, allowing him to analyze medical records efficiently, work closely with expert witnesses, and develop effective defense strategies in healthcare-related litigation.Prior to joining HBS, James practiced with other local Atlanta regional and national defense firms, where he handled a broad range of civil litigation matters. His experience includes defending physicians, dentists, healthcare professionals, and institutional providers in professional liability claims, as well as managing complex bodily injury cases involving significant exposure. He has extensive experience conducting depositions, retaining and preparing expert witnesses, arguing dispositive motions, mediating cases on behalf of insurers and insureds, and preparing cases for jury trial.James earned his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law, where he graduated in the top portion of his class. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy, with honors, from Samford University’s McWhorter School of Pharmacy, after completing a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical studies.
