About Ashley Gowder Mitchell

Ashley was born and raised in Homer, Georgia. She graduated with undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Georgia. Ashley graduated with high honors from the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a B.S. in Criminal Justice, earning her Juris Doctorate in 2010. At UGA Law, Ashley was an article editor for the Georgia Journal of International and for Comparative Law and a Honor Court Justice.

She has practiced in state and federal courts in Georgia since her admission to the bar. Ashley is currently a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. She is a 2021 graduate of the GTLA LEAD Program, a highly competitive leadership program for select GTLA members identified as potential leaders in the field. Ashley has been named a Georgia’s Rising Star by Super Lawyers and Atlanta Magazine every year since 2014. Only 2.5% of all lawyers in Georgia are selected as Rising Stars.

Ashley has practiced as a trial lawyer on behalf of plaintiffs since 2018 and has recovered millions for her clients in catastrophic injury cases.

Prior to representing plaintiffs, Ashley spent years defending insurance companies and their policyholders in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases. She defended some of the country’s largest transportation companies in high-risk litigation. From this experience, Ashley gained significant insights into the inner workings of insurance companies and large corporations and how they respond to accidents, analyze claims, and approach lawsuits.

Outside the office, Ashley and her husband, Jeff, enjoy spending time with their young son and exploring their Sandy Springs community. Ashley has a passion for mentoring young adults and is active with Atlanta Angels, which provides one-on-one mentorship to youth in foster care.
