How long is too long to protest a will?

Asked on Jan 19th, 2017 on Estate Planning - Louisiana
More details to this question:
I was born out of wedlock but my father and I had a close relationship the last several years of his life. When he died, his legitimate daughter took over estate and I assumed because I was not named in the will I had no interest in his properties. I have recently been told that is not true. He died in 2003 and his will and succession were filed on the same day in 2007. The will looks very suspicious and I was never listed on succession even thou she knew of me. The properties were never sold but they have collected rent all these years. How long do I have to take legal recourse or is too late?
