Alan Hoff Law Offices is a law firm with an office in Appleton, WI. At this office location, there are 2 lawyers practicing family law, divorce, child custody and 9 other areas of law.
He was appointed by the courts to mediate the custody of our two daughters. He took the money and then did not do what was expected of him. When I would ask him if he had interviewed any of my references, something he is madated to do he would respond with rude emails and then tells me he dont put any stock in them. How is he supposed to determine what kind of father I am? In the end, I decided to let him know I was going to report him to the bar. After getting upset the next day, he asked what I wanted and gave me exactly that, because he clearly knew he would have issues explaining his emails if I reported him. Then, after it was over and he was no longer on the case, my ex was not happy with the results and ran up her own bill, which she did not pay, so he came after me for the money , eventually filing papers to go to court, something he had no chance of winning. In the end he calls me the day of court and says he has better things to do, and he is dropping the whole $400 case.
Did not get any of his assigned workload done on time or with accuracy. His delays made us miss deadlines with vacations, school, and important health issues. Often confuses cases and clients and will not talk to children or even recognize names. Completely treated both sides with disrespect and outright contempt while making things much worse. Not good for families or children. His work hours were increased for billing and tried to charge us more than he could and double billed more than once. He believes his opinion is the RIGHT even when uninformed and old fashioned. Needs to retire especially from family law.
Run far away from this attorney! He forgot about our case many times, lied in court, and has even gone to lengths of threaten people when he doesn't like what's said. How he is still an attorney is beyond me. From my experience I hope to help others from wasting their money on him. He is rude, unethical and overpriced. He charges for services he never did (was previously sued and lost on doing this to other clients) and you have no proof. Save yourself and your money and look further than this guy. He's an embarrassment to call "my attorney". He is also a GAL which is just very sad for those children as he doesn't care the outcome, he only cares about his billings being paid. With being a GAL you are looked at to help and Alan truly does the opposite of that. With high emotions due to such a hard situation for both parents, Alan will make it very obvious the county assigned cases are just extra money for him and he doesn't put in the work. There is a reason for his low ratings. RUN!
Working with Alan it was quickly discovered that he is an excuse for an attorney and Outagamie county should be embarrassed having him as a GAL. He often forgot about our case, overbilled his services and when called out on his lack of he based decisions to get back at you not so much for the best of the child. He was previously sued for billing for services never rendered and was found guilty. That did not stop him today from doing the same. Be aware of this poor excuse of an attorney as he lacks in ethics, professionalism, follow ups and due diligence. His 2 star rating is a good look at his shitty over priced services.
