Mr. Alexander Coffin is unprofessional. I simply needed to fast-track a letter to my employer requesting release of my employee file and preservation of certain records. I sent Coffin a sample letter upfront. He agreed, setting a $515 fee to rewrite and send it via certified mail. But at the consultation, which he had scheduled for four days later, he immediately said "you are wasting your money" and he “could not justify the fee" on a letter written well enough to be sent directly. Having worked with the employer for my entire 10-year tech career, I knew they would only respect an attorney’s letterhead. Coffin's legal debate, strategy, and prying into matters far beyond the scope of the limited administrative action he was to be paid for were unsolicited. Either do the work or reject it upfront. His tone got rude when I said he had wasted my time. He felt entitled to silent, unquestioning, and immediate compliance. I wasted $49 on Rocket Lawyer to get this experience.
This guy's all over the place accept in response to me. I paid him a retainer after having been referred to him by my state's bar association. He seemed sharp, attentive and summarized my plight with unique detail, and then, nothing. Of course, he likely realized how difficult it is to oppose large businesses in my Southern state, but if he's just have communicated whatever delays of impasse he likely confronted. To retain a lawyer and then never getting one shred of evidence that he's representing me or met whatever statutory limitation in bringing action leaves me feeling rather nauseated. I'd expected much more from this lawyer based on his articulated grip of the situation, but, then again, con men are as bright and attentive to detail. I do hope I hear from him and that I'm allowed to amend this review. I'd far rather praise than pan anyone.
