I wish we had never called him. We were offered a deal by the employer. And we should contact a lawyer, right? Lawyers negotiate, he gets nothing else for us. Weeks go by. More negotiations. More weeks. Finally the severance is signed. This guy sends an email which causes the former employer to void the contract. They he goes on paternity leave for 5 weeks… and counting…. Meanwhile the substitute for him has sent two emails in a span of 5 weeks. And the lovely new contract from the former employer is cutting our deal by thousands of dollars. We paid for this. The lawyer? Crickets.
