After practicing law in Houston for several years, John moved to Amarillo to join Underwood in 2015. In Houston, he represented clients in both litigation and transactional matters. Although John enjoyed his time in the courtroom, he now focuses his practice on the representation of businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals in corporate, real estate, and financial transactions. His prior experience in the real estate industry as in-house counsel for a national commercial real estate firm gives John a unique perspective many attorneys do not have. He offers clients a blend of practical legal and business advice to achieve a client's strategic immediate and long-term goals.John frequently advises clients in transactions, acquisition and disposition of assets or equity, corporate governance, and commercial real estate matters. Drawing on his experience in the real estate industry, he is intimately familiar with the wide range of issues that will be encountered in an ever-changing market. He understands each transaction is unique and applies lessons learned in the courtroom to his transactional practice. His ability to anticipate critical issues allows John to advocate for his client's business and operational goals while accounting for future risks.John attended Baylor Law School and served as a legal intern for a Texas State Senator during the 82nd Legislative Session prior to graduating.In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife, playing golf, and traveling to the mountains.
