Mr Joel Bauer is good at talking in circles, when he bothers to come to the phone. Didn’t file papers, wouldn’t return calls makes deals with opposing counsel without talking to his client first. Due to his incompetence for a simple divorce, heirs lost their inheritance and have been fighting in the court system for a year (no end in sight). If you are looking for a divorce lawyer who will fight for a man, KEEP LOOKING. Unless you want to leave the marriage with only the clothes on your back and nothing in your pockets
Joel Bauer is probably the most incompetent attorney in Alpena. He promises you everything on the initial interview. After that you will be lucky to have him return your phone calls. He even backed out of showing up in court with me once.... informing me a few minutes before court that he would only attend on Zoom. He never fought for me once. I wish I had represented myself! I had been warned by a friend about him.... wish I had listened!
1. Mr. Bauer never answers your calls.
2. Mr. Bauer over charges for never answering your calls.
3. Mr. Bauer talks for 20 minutes to the client (me on intake) and charges for 3 hours.
4. Mr. Bauer charges for speaking to others he never spoke to.
5. Mr. Bauer doesn't timely respond when you BEG to be given your court date so you don't get a charge for contempt of court (and when you do get ahold of him, you only have 2 days advance notice).
6. Lots of money just to "plea". NEVER RECOMMEND
weak in court, filed in wrong court house; delayed divorce proceedings; caused heirs to loose inheritance
