Sandia Family Law, LLC is a law firm established in 1996 with an office in Albuquerque, NM. At this office location, there are 3 lawyers practicing divorce, family law, child custody and 21 other areas of law.
I had an uncontested very straightforward divorce. We started 9 months ago and still are not divorced. The only time I have heard or recieved work from my lawyer is when I send an email first to ask for status and that cost me $20 per email. We put in a retainer for the expected cost of the uncontested divorce plus more for expected arbitration. We did not need arbitration. But the emails and change of address because both my hopefully soon-to-be ex-wife has changed over the last almost year since we started now we are over the retainer and continue to pay more.
Faris represented my (now) ex-husband. Her incompetence, failure to adhere to scheduled Facilitation dates, failure to provide financial documents she had received, failure to respond to simple questions/emails all served to extend our divorce settlement more than 4-5 months. My attorney finally filed 11 motions with the Sandoval County 13th District Court to try and recoup some of my expenses and get Faris to provide what we needed to prepare for the Facilitation (financial documents, bank records etc.) The Facilitation date was postponed 2 times because of her incompetence. Her lack of professionalism and follow through cost me approx. $20,000 in MY legal fees trying to get her to do anything. We never saw many of the documents we needed to see (will, bank records) to propose a reasonable settlement AT ALL and were only told of them by the Facilitator. Do not hire her to represent you for anything. You will be sorry if you do.
