Law Office of Brian Katonak, PA

Brian does not communicate with his client very well. It is hard to get him to return calls. He is not a fighter and does not take initiative to get things done. He doesn't appear to represent his client. My 8 year old granddaughter's welfare is at stake and he doesn't seem to care. He doesn't do things he says he will. When a court order was messed up by the opposing attorney's office or the judge's office, he said well just go by this for now rather than trying to get it corrected.

Brian doesn't keep me informed of what is going on with my case. He doesn't take initiative to get matters taken care of. He doesn't appear to be representing me. My 8 year old daughter's welfare is at stake and he doesn't seem to take it seriously. He doesn't do things he says he will. I feel like I am handling my own case. Brian is not a fighter.

At first Brian seemed to be on the ball. Quickly I realized how awful and Unprofessional Brian was. He never responded to emails, phone calls. I had given Mr Katonak 4 binders of important evidence and he lost it. Brian left in the middle of mediation to handle another case? Where I as his client was left alone with the other parties lawyer and the mediator Brian did not communicate prior to mediation That he would be leaving me, his client alone. Brian never filed our mediation report and after 3 weeks of me asking to file for trial ( no response) I ended up hiring a new lawyer. December 2021 Mr. Katonak was suspended from practicing law. I hope he never practices again. I feel awful for anyone that hired him as a family court representative/ lawyer. I'm sure Aiken County Family Court is a mess right now because of this man.

Let me start off with saying if I could give them 0 stars I would! I’m in the military and was working with them way from Washington state. They didn’t take my concerns into consideration. The communication was Nonexistent. I would leave messages and emails and Brian wouldnt get back to me. And on my court date my name was spelled wrong my first and last name! Save your money choose another lawyer

Kotonak took 5K of my money knowing he was in trouble with the SC Bar. He was supposed to assist in temporary custody for 2 of my grandchildren and move the case to permanent custody. Only one initial in office meeting with one five-minute phone call after the initial in office visit. At the time of his suspension, he left the case in shambles without filing for future hearings, without filing for guardian ad litem requests or any other required obligations. He is not allowed to practice law for an undetermined amount of time, so I was forced to hire another attorney and start proceedings from square one. I will be attempting to recover the initial 5k retainer with the help of the SC Bar. If Kotonak returns to practice, I would not recommend him to represent anyone who is in need of legal help.

Brian Katonak! Hired him after finding his website and reading his claims to be a good Christian man. He IS NOT a good lawyer unless u want to lose your case fast. He doesn't return calls or e-mails, and he doesn't follow up on things ever! He seemed like a go-getter until after he got his money. Now, he doesn't fight for you, he just lets things go and agrees to the other attorney's request. You'll never know what is going on with your case bc you will never hear from him until day of court.

Brian Katonak is not a good lawyer for representation. He doesn't return calls, he doesn't respond to e-mails, and he doesn't follow up on things. He seemed like a real go-getter until after he got his money. Now, he just seems to let things go. He doesn't seem to care about winning my case. I don't know what is going on with my case because I never hear from him. I wasted my money on him. I would have done better representing myself.

Brian dropped the ball on my case so badly. Important witnesses were never called and never given the chance to help - including teachers and counselors. I did most of the leg work for getting information and documentation and if I didn't do it or initiate it, it didn't get done. Since I am not a lawyer, what I did was not enough. My lawyer should have worked on the case too! What a waste of money and my daughter is the one that suffers now!
