About Justin Wilson

Justin Wilson is the founding attorney of My Dallas Criminal Lawyer. He holds undergraduate and master’s degrees from Baylor University and received his juris doctorate from the SMU Dedman School of Law. Justin began his career in criminal law as an intern at the Collin County District Attorney’s Office before his final year of law school. As a law student using a third-year bar card, Justin won his very first trial – securing a conviction in a DWI case in Collin County Court at Law No. 1, and he never looked back.

In 2013, the Collin County District Attorney’s Office hired Justin as a misdemeanor prosecutor before he even had his bar exam results. While serving the DA’s Office as a misdemeanor court chief, Justin earned special recognition for his efforts to train and develop new prosecutors. He became certified to administer Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and taught Collin County police academy classes on DWI enforcement from a lawyer’s perspective. Justin rose through the ranks to prosecute felony offenses before leaving the DA’s Office to practice criminal defense in 2016.

Justin started his own Collin County-based law firm in March of 2020 and immediately garnered recognition. That year Expertise named him as one of the “Best DUI Lawyers in Frisco.” Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, selected Justin to its Texas Rising Stars list for 2021, 2022, and 2023. Texas Rising Stars is an exclusive list, recognizing no more than 2.5 percent of attorneys in Texas. The Texas Bar College, which is a professional society of legal scholars and leaders in the Texas legal community, extended membership to Justin in 2023 as well.

In addition to defending clients and managing a law practice, Justin serves the local community through speaking engagements and volunteer activities. He has given the presentation, “Criminal Law 101: What Parents Need to Know” to parents at Reedy and Wakeland High Schools in Frisco, Texas. Justin addressed parents and teens at Staley Middle School in Frisco on “Drugs, Phones, and Sexting.” And he presented “Top 10 Things Your Criminal Attorney Wants You to Know” to the Prosper Chamber of Commerce. Justin also volunteers as the presiding judge over the Wylie, Texas Teen Court Program and has served on the boards of the Collin County Bar Association and the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (“3CDLA”).

Prior to becoming an attorney, Justin taught undergraduate students as a lecturer at Baylor University for three years. His previous career as an educator helps Justin effectively communicate with his clients and build trust with jurors in trial. Justin passionately believes in the importance of a strong criminal defense. He cares about his clients’ future and proudly fights prosecutors to secure justice in Collin, Denton, Dallas, and Rockwall Counties.
