Bolling & Hearl, P. C. is a law firm established in 1975 with an office in Abingdon, VA. At this office location, there are 2 lawyers practicing banking law, creditor bankruptcy, business buyouts and 9 other areas of law.
When my wife died I was in no shape to execute Her will or other business. A local real estate agent suggested I contact Phil and the compassionate, professional help I received was phenomenal. Trust is an important asset and Phil Hearl was exceptional. He took care of everything with minimal help from me, and I was relieved to shed the financial and personal burden. I’d recommend him to anyone.

You may want to check on any loose ends post-closing that they may not have made clear to you. A few months after my closing, there was confusion about who was responsible for paying my first real estate tax payments - my mortgage company or myself. Apparently I was responsible, although not made clear enough to me during closing. When both city and county contacted them in an effort to let me know my payment was due, I was not contacted by the law firm and told until months later.
Working with this office on a real estate transaction was HORRIBLE! The absolute TOP office of RUDE & unprofessional. Marsha was the nastiest in each and every response- telephone and email. Not willing to help any party or coordinating a closing. So disrespectful to all involved- Buyers, sellers, agents, lender, processor, closer- ALL!
BEWARE OF THIS LAW FIRM! I hired this firm to do title work on property I was purchasing. Marsha Hearl, an employee of Mr. Hearl did the title work. She would not respond to emails or phone calls. She quoted one fee and then raised it. It was literally the very last minute before closing that I got any information. The night before the closing I was seeking another firm to complete the title work. I had to request a copy of the recorded deed. It was mailed one month after closing. I do not have an update on the title. I do not have information as to whether the taxes were paid or the mortgage was released. In fact, Marsha Hearl screamed at me that I don’t get a copy of the mortgage release, and I don’t get an update on the title. This is the very most unprofessional attorney’s office, I have ever experienced. I will be filing a bar complaint. BEWARE IF THIS LAW FIRM. I WISH I HAD READ REVIEWS BEFORE HIRING THEM.
They did not perform the requisite title work prior to closing, they prepared a completely inaccurate settlement statement, they did not request or verify the loan payoff for the existing mortgage on the home. The deal fell through. I do not know how they stay in business
Marsha Hearl was terrible to work with. I do not recommend this office in any capacity. This was the most unprofessional experience I have had with a title company. I have been in Real Estate for years and have never seen such a blatantly disrespectful person. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. DO NOT RECOMEND. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR MY CLIENTS AND MYSELF. WAITED 6 BUSINESS DAYS TO GET RESPONSES TO EMAILS OR VOICEMAILS... TRULY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
