Erin L. T. Ranney has dedicated the majority of her career to the area of criminal law. After serving as a public defender and as an assistant commonwealth's attorney (prosecutor), she decided to open her own firm applying her dedication to the law and her work ethic to helping clients with their legal situations.

Her husband, Paul T. Ranney, Jr., joined her in her law practice with a focus on estate planning. His background includes investment and tax training that give him a special insight to client's financial needs. A. Ellen Rowedder joined Erin and Paul with the firm in October 2018. After spending her time in law school working with Rappahannock Legal Services (now Legal Works), she developed a passion for family law and focuses her practice on that area. Hired Attorney Erin Ranney

Working with Mrs.Ranney was probably the best experience I have ever had with the legal system she was so helpful and did everything I asked of her she made me feel like she was actually working for me not like in my past experiences with other attorneys she handled every thing for me and got me the best outcome I could have asked for!! I would definitely recommend her and use her again if I ever need to.

Hired Law Firm

DO NOT USE THEM. RUN! It would appear the lawyer they retained for family law (Mrs. Barclay) should not be in practice or be retired. You can see the burnout or lack of caring (she self admitted that she no longer cared about complaints while at the same time, receiving many of them). In essence, the only thing they may have excelled at are uncontested matters, maybe a criminal one. Apparently, they only have one lawyer to work on family cases. When I determined that I was the recipient of ineffective counsel or ethical wrong by Mrs. Barclay, I tried working with the attorney directly in the course of the proceedings, and then ultimately addressed these concerns of ineffective counsel to the law firm owner. I expected that there would be a concern given, but there was not. I was advised by the law firm owner (Mrs. Ranney) that she could not help, considering her and her husband's background in family law was limited. NUMEROUS ERRORS IN JUDGEMENT!
