Medicare Medicaid

Medicare & Medicaid are government-run programs that help address health care costs. Medicare is a federal health insurance program for people 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. Recipients must pay a deductible amount, which can change every year, before Medicare begins to pay. Medicaid is a joint federal and state assistance program that helps with medical costs for individuals and families with low incomes, and limited assets and resources. It helps low income families, poor children and pregnant women living below the poverty line. Low income is the major criteria to determine eligibility for Medicaid.
