SOME ESTATE PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS
- Do you have a Will? Is it up-to-date?
- Or will the State decide what happens to your Property?
- Is your Estate Planning up to date and does it take advantage of all available means of maximizing your estate for your family and possibly your favorite charitable interests?
Estate planning is the process of arranging for the orderly transfer of your property at the time of your death. If we do not make plans for this transfer, the state will step in and do it for us in ways that may be very harmful to our families and certainly not in accordance with our desires.
Estate planning also is the excercise of deciding who might care for minor children as guardians and trustees in the event of a disaster which would leave them without their parents, or making provisions for special needs in the family. It can also simplify the often time-consuming task of distributing estates promptly and without unnecessary trouble. In other words, time spent now marshaling your assets, making reasonable decisions and putting them in place can save much hardship on your family in the future. |
