Kristian Einar Hedine

Attorney in Walla Walla, WA
Kristian E. Hedine feels that every client deserves access to legal services that emulate "in-house counsel" convenience. He prides himself on furnishing prompt, creative and proactive solutions. He strives to learn as much as possible about each client's business operations in order to think more like a member of the client's team, thus working to prevent legal problems rather than just react to them after they arise.

Kris grew up in Walla Walla with his four siblings, the son of a local physician. He graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and then went on to the University of Kansas School of Law, earning his law degree in 1982. Kris has been in private practice in Walla Walla since that time, for sixteen years with the firm of Reese, Baffney, Schrag & Hedine, and then for three years as in-house counsel for HighSpeed Communication, a telecom startup.

In 2001, Kris founded Virtual In-House Counsel to serve the needs of small to medium-sized business clients with innovative and responsive approaches to the challenges of forming and operating a business. Today he provides a variety of services to his clients emphasizing the areas of business formation, contracts, personnel and employment issues, dispute resolution, administrative law, advising non-profits and charitable associations, and real estate. Kris is also an experienced mediator, offering assistance with any type of civil dispute.

Kris is admitted to the bar in Washington and Oregon, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was formerly a member of the Washington Employment Lawyers Association and is currently a member of the Washington State Association of Municipal Attorneys, in conjunction with his role as City Attorney for the cities of Waitsburg and Prescott. In addition, Kris has served on committees for the Washington State Bar Association. He also volunteers with community foundations and currently serves or has served on the boards of numerous local non-profit organizations. He was elected Part-Time Walla Walla District Court Judge in 2010 and spends approximately twenty percent of his time performing his judicial duties.

Kris enjoys traveling with his wife, Kathy, and loves to ski and ride his Harley-Davidson whenever time allows.

    About Client Rating
    About Peer Rating

Welcome to Martindale-Hubbell® Client Review, a new ratings service that allows you to view and provide feedback on a lawyer or law firm on service and relationship qualities such as Communication Ability, Responsiveness, Quality of Service, and Value for Money.

    Determining a Rating

The Client Review Rating is determined through aggregation of validated responses. This compilation of Client Reviews translates to a numerical rating and associate descriptive term on a scale of 1 -5. 1 being lowest as "Rated" and 5 being highest as "Preeminent".

    • 4.5-5.0 Preeminent
    • 3.0-4.4 Distinguished
    • 1-2.9 Rated

Martindale-Hubbell uses a third-party resource to validate that the respondent is a living person, but cannot confirm the lawyer/client relationship, which in many cases is confidential. Clients must affirm that they are a client of the lawyer or firm identified for review at the time of the completed Client Review.

    The Reviewers

Those who complete Client Reviews are clients of law firms who hired a lawyer within the last year, whose matter is not pending, and want to share their experience of that lawyer or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be of any type from in-house counsel, corporate executives, small business owners to private individuals, and even sometimes another lawyer in a different jurisdiction.

Client Reviews are anonymous and reviewers' identities are not published; however a summary of basic demographics will be part of the display of responses.

Why do we collect demographics as part of the review?

Those who are researching a lawyer or law firm like to see that there are other clients who might be "like them". This is valuable information contributing to the decision-making process of hiring a lawyer.

    Martindale-Hubbell's role

Martindale-Hubbell facilitates the process of Client Review by gathering responses, validating them and aggregating results for display online. The content of the responses are entirely from reviewers, the clients of the firm or lawyer.

It is important to note that Martindale-Hubbell does not undertake to develop Client Reviews for all firms and lawyers. Therefore, the fact that a firm or lawyer has not been reviewed should not be construed unfavorably. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome and Martindale-Hubbell accepts no responsibility for the content or accuracy of any review over which Martindale-Hubbell exercises no editorial review or control.
