Jonathan Feldman is a partner at Goodmans. His practice focuses on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions. Jonathan has extensive experience acting for buyers and sellers in a wide range of industries for private and public companies.

Jonathan has been involved in a number of contested shareholder matters, including proxy contests representing both dissident shareholders and boards of directors. He is also often asked to participate in litigation matters where strategic advice is sought and knowledge of corporate and securities law is required.

Before joining Goodmans in 2004, Jonathan was an associate in the M&A Group of White & Case LLP in New York, where he represented clients in a broad range of corporate and commercial transactions.

Jonathan has been a frequent author and lecturer on topics including recent developments in the Canadian M&A market, the evolving role of shareholder rights plans and the rise of shareholder activism in Canada. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Law School where he has taught the course "The Art of the Deal".

In 2011, Jonathan was recognized as one of Lexpert's Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 and he was recognized in Lexpert's 2012 Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada as a "Corporate Lawyer to Watch".

Jonathan is an active member of the community. In 2012 the University of Toronto awarded Jonathan its Arbor Award for outstanding voluntary service. As a co-founder of the Barrie to Baycrest 100km annual bike ride, Jonathan has been instrumental in helping raise over $9 million for the Baycrest hospital in Toronto.

The Reviewers

Those who complete Client Reviews are clients of law firms who hired a lawyer within the last year, whose matter is not pending, and want to share their experience of that lawyer or law firm with other potential clients. Reviewers can be of any type from in-house counsel, corporate executives, small business owners to private individuals, and even sometimes another lawyer in a different jurisdiction.


Client Reviews are anonymous and reviewers' identities are not published; however a summary of basic demographics will be part of the display of responses.

Why do we collect demographics as part of the review?

Those who are researching a lawyer or law firm like to see that there are other clients who might be "like them". This is valuable information contributing to the decision-making process of hiring a lawyer.

Martindale-Hubbell's role

Martindale-Hubbell facilitates the process of Client Review by gathering responses, validating them and aggregating results for display online. The content of the responses are entirely from reviewers, the clients of the firm or lawyer.

It is important to note that Martindale-Hubbell does not undertake to develop Client Reviews for all firms and lawyers. Therefore, the fact that a firm or lawyer has not been reviewed should not be construed unfavorably.
