Stansell, Whitman & Baber was originally founded by John Kritzer in 1919. In 1970 Kritzer, Stansell & Critser was formed by John Kritzer (who passed away in 1974), Theodore Stansell and Kenneth Critser (who passed away in 1983). In 1978 Richard Whitman became a partner in the firm. James (Greg) Baber became a partner in the firm in 1991.

The firm currently serves clients throughout Warren, Knox, Henderson, Mercer, McDonough and surrounding counties.

The firm has a general practice with sub-specialties which individual members of the firm maintain expertise in.
