Mr. Clapp began his own practice in November, 2000, leaving his partnership position with the Indianapolis office of Johnson Smith LLP. From November 2000 to August, 2001, Mr. Clapp also worked as General Counsel to Sullivan Funding Group, Inc., a residential real estate company that remains one of Mr. Clapp's largest clients. Mr. Clapp specializes in complex business litigation, including construction litigation, intellectual property litigation, and real estate litigation. An AV rated lawyer, Mr. Clapp has been involved in business litigation in state and federal courts in areas such as shareholder disputes, distribution disputes, director and officer liability, reinsurance, ERISA, computer and internet disputes, employee embezzlement, and trademark and copyright infringement. Mr. Clapp also has extensive experience in all phases of commercial and residential real estate, representing builders, lenders, purchasers, sellers, developers, title companies, landlords, and tenants. Mr. Clapp has represented these clients in financing, acquisition, sales, leasing, foreclosure, eviction, and condemnation, and he has represented Chicago Title Insurance Company and Ohio Bar Title Insurance Company as title insurance claims counsel.
