I was directed to them from an online form I had filled out.Contacted them and set up appeals process.Didnt do any research before I agreed. Started to see all the negative reviews later on down the road and was wandering did I make a mistake?Guess what absolutely not!!!Won benifits and I highly recommend this firm.***** 4/16

I am still a client with Smith & Heard L.L.P but thus far their customer service is outstanding. The timely response with no long waiting periods is what makes a customer feel at home.The knowledge shared at the touch of a button keeps you in tune with your case information. Once you register online all the information within your file is updated the moment developments unfold. The best parts of Smith and Heard is they listen to their client,assess before responding. Poor communication, waited till the last minute on everything, would not respond to complaints/questions. As the client, patient I felt completely in the dark. Did not have complete files at court, costing me in more ways than one. Waited till after due dates (appeal date) to get my paperwork. Took 9 months after the court date to get my settlement and papers.I as a patient, client was repeatedly put out to get my own files and to them. To say they are a poor company is a grievous understatement

This Firm is here solely for the money. What a let down! I was approved only due to me calling SSA and working with them. Its like I am dealing with a bunch of interns who don't know or care about anything expect Friday & Paydays!!! All this firm did was file this case and couldn't even do that right, for some reason whom ever did the filing checked something wrong my First Disability had been reduced by more than half as SSA thinks I am getting workers compensation. Stay away from this MILL$$

These guys sucked. They couldn't even get the medical records to the hearing on time. The judge was kind enough to hear the case again 8 months later. I guess this is heard and smiths answer to a dire needs letter.again these guys sucked if you choose them well I guess good luck. They really suck

I can't give them a poor rating, because they really didn't do much. However, when I decided to switch to a lawyer closer to home, I asked them for a letter stating they were no longer representing me. Seven days after I asked for the letter, someone from Heard & Smith called to try to convince me to stay. They had not even started my letter. I felt they were negligent.

Heard and Smith has very poor communication skills and is not very organized in their office procedures. It took them over 2 months to forward a questionnaire from SSD to me, which was over the 10 day time allowed from SSD. They never call me for updates or email me. And, I have had 2 different law assistants in 8 months.

I won my case with them, and the 25% legal fee was suppose to be taken out of my Social Security Disability Check before I received it. I got my check and a year later, I get a notice that I owe them $2,000 because their independent lawyer that represented me did not get their fee. This is a lawyers office, aren't they suppose to know how to do their paperwork? I used the money to pay back bills that accumulated from being disabled and thought the fee was already paid. Not fair!!

I contacted Heard and Smith about filing my disability claim. Within 10 minutes I received a phone call. We immediately did an interview and they sent out all necessary paperwork for me to fill out. The firm keeps me very well updated on what is going on with my claim and responds promptly to my phone calls or e-mail. On a 1-10 scale of referring people I know to them it would be a most definite 10.

Working with Heard & Smith for approval of my Social Security Disability claim was surprisingly easy and did not take as long as I was concerned it might take. They were always available for questions and for processing documents that were necessary for approval of my claim.

The office never returns client phone calls until the time in which an attorney is specifically handling your case to go to court. I have had several complaints on several employees and was sent to the supervisors lines, more than one supervisor. None of the supervisors ever returned my calls, I had to call more than at least 5 times for one issue. When requesting to speak to someone to assist me, i was told on several occasions, sorry. This law firm is horrible!!!!!!

The client services section have always been prompt and courteous when I have to call them with updated material. They also are very quick to return calls. You always speak with a live person (very important to me). The process of paperwork has been made so easy. They e-mailed me forms with things they would need for interview, this allowed me to have all items needed without any delays. This made it a stress free interview.

I think that I should have gotten a lawyer in my own city instead of so far away and I think they should have declined me for the same reason. I think if we were in the same city, we could connect at least once before hearing or I may have even realized that it would be better to speak for myself earlier rather then after hearing.
