Rob Van Arnam focuses his practice on intellectual property licensing and litigation including matters involving copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets. Mr. Van Arnam has represented a variety of industries with intellectual property matters including software, agriculture and crop science, chemical products/processes, drug and medical devices, and architectural design. Representative matters include: representing video game/engine developer in matter involving breach of software license agreement, copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets; representing crop and turf products manufacturer in multiple patent infringement suits; representing medical diagnostics company in prosecution of false advertising claims under the Lanham Act; representing a major paper products manufacturer in matter involving trademark infringement and counterfeiting; and representing a national architecture design firm in the prosecution of claims of copyright infringement and unfair competition.

Representative antitrust and commercial matters include: defending clients in U.S. DOJ investigations and civil class actions alleging claims of bid rigging, price fixing and violations of the False Claims Act; defending Fortune 500 corporation in government investigation of violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; defending major wood product manufacturer in wrongful death suit.

Previously, Mr. Van Arnam worked for the U.S. Department of Justice as a Special Assistant in the Office of Intelligence Policy and the Office of International Affairs.

Mr. Van Arnam is a member of the American Bar Association's Intellectual Property Division and is the author of several articles on intellectual property matters. He is also listed as a "Rising Star" in North Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Stars magazine for 2009-2010.

Mr. Van Arnam earned his bachelor of arts degree from Dickinson College and his masters degree from American University. He earned his juris doctor from the University of North Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the Holderness National Moot Court Team and the North Carolina Journal of International Law & Commercial Regulation.
