          John D. Whittington practices law in the areas of personal injury, worker's compensation, and civil litigation. He is admitted to both the Virginia Bar (1981) and the West Virginia Bar (1997) and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court Eastern District of Virginia (1985) and Northern District of West Virginia (2005). He received his Juris Doctor, with distinction, from George Mason University School of Law in 1981 and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977.

          John D. Whittington is a member of several professional organizations, including the Prince William County Bar Association, the Virginia State Bar (Member, Eighth District Disciplinary Committee, 1988-1991; Chairman 1991), the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (3600 Club), and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He has served as a faculty member for the Virginia State Bar's Professionalism Course and has held the position of Virginia State Bar Council Representative from Prince William County since 2004. In addition, he has acted as Commissioner in Chancery for the Prince William County Circuit Court, Member of the Medical Malpractice Review Panel in 1991, Master of the George Mason Inn of Court, Member of the legal fraternity Delta Theta Phi, as well as Managing Editor of George Mason University School of Law's Law Review in 1981.
