Douglas A. Prutton received his Bachelor of Science (B.S.)degree in Forestry with High Honors from Michigan State University in 1979. He was awarded his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree cum laude from the prestigious University of Illinois College of Law in 1982.

From 1982 to 1984 Mr. Prutton practiced with the corporate and insurance defense firm Baxter & Hammond in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He moved to California in 1984 and practiced with the San Francisco corporate and insurance defense firm, Low, Ball & Lynch in its Walnut Creek branch office from 1984 to 1987.

From 1987 to the present Mr. Prutton has operated his own law firm. From 1987 to 1996 he was located in the Financial Center Building in dowtown Oakland. From 1996 to the present he has been located in the Shattuck Commons Building in North Berkeley,
