General Information
Jeffrey E. Prag is a solo practitioner in Stockton, California. His law practice consists of about 1/3 federal and state tax litigation and advice, 1/3 estate planning, including trust and estate administration, and 1/3 small business and corporate formation, transactions, and advice.

Jeff was born and raised in Chicago. He received a B.A. in 1967 from Carleton College, a J.D. in 1973 from Stanford University, and a L.L.M (in Taxation) in 1988 from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. Jeff was admitted to the California State Bar in 1974 and to the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. District Court (E.D., CA) in 1988. He spent 14 years in Sacramento, California working for several different governmental agencies and has spent the past 21 years in private practice in Stockton. He maintains current and customary professional liability insurance. He is certified as a specialist in taxation law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.

Jeff is also active in legal, business, and community-based activities. He has served as past president of both the Stockton Estate Planning Council and the San Joaquin Chapter of the American Red Cross. He is currently president of the San Joaquine Law Library Board of Trustees and Stockton East Rotary. He has written a monthly column on tax issues for the San Joaquin County Bar Association publication Across the Bar, has authored a number of articles in the past for local business publications, and has spoken frequently on tax and estate planning matters. Jeff was a volunteer small claims judge for seven years with the Sacramento County Municipal Court.
